Project
A farmhouse package on open ground
A new farmhouse on acreage taken from raw ground to a finished lawn, edged beds, and color along the whole front elevation.
Start with a site walkWhat went in
On the ground.
Open ground offers nothing to work with and hides nothing either. On a lot this size the lawn has to hold a clean line all the way to the drive, and the beds have to read from the road as well as from the porch.
The planting is set against limestone block edging with river rock behind it, so the line stays crisp through a season of mowing and the beds do not creep into the turf.
- Full sod across the front and side lawns
- Limestone block edging with river rock beds along the foundation
- Flowering perennial planting through the front beds
- Rock bed carried around the utilities and generator pad
- Young shade trees set into the lawn

Design stage
The plan comes before the crew.
Bed lines, plant selection, edging, and stone are worked out and shown to you first, so the direction is agreed before a machine arrives on the property.
